Truly Rare Confederate Fretwell-Singer Floating Anchored Torpedo Fuze. According to information published in 'Civil War Heavy Ordnance' by Jack Bell the Fretwell-Singer torpedo was invented by the brother of the inventor of the Singer sewing machine and a Dr. Fretwell of Texas.

This example was recovered near the Blakely river in Alabama, confirming their use in the deep south. It is solid cast from red brass and measures 23 inches long. The iron spring replaced the original which could not be saved. The brass hammer pin is original. Both were found together.

Great piece for the most advanced collector or museum.
