Confederate Fayetteville NC Rifle - Type I fitted with sword bayonet lug. Complete authentic example. 58 caliber, 33 inch barrel with 'VP' over eagles head proof. Barrel date visible but partially obscured by the usual pitting in the bolster area. Lock is dated 1863, eagle over 'CSA' and 'FAYETTEVILLE'. Brass butt plate properly marked 'CSA'. The letter 'U' is stamped on each of the brass barrel bands. No markings visible on stock.
Metal parts are clean metal with iron staining. Brass parts have a pleasing mustard patina. Stock has been lightly sanded and varnished. Action is fine. Prime example.
