Rick Burton at Civil War Show

Rick Burton is a full time dealer in authentic Civil War antiques and relics. He has combined a love of history and metal detecting, resulting in a passion for recovering and preserving artifacts from the conflict. Years of seeing and dealing in dug artifacts has helped him develop a keen eye for the metalurgy and appearance of authentic items of the period.

His personal Civil War Collecting interests include Confederate and Union Artillery projectiles, Confederate Rifleman's Buttons, Civil War Union and Confederate military Cavalry spurs, Confederate and Union Belt Plates,  objects associated with Confederate North Carolina and other interesting Civil War period objects.

Currently Rick is a member of the following clubs and organizations:

  • Company of Military Historians
  • Texas Gun Collectors Association - Life Member
  • Ohio Valley Military Society - Life Member
  • Forks of the Delaware Historic Arms Society - Life Member
  • New England Antique Arms Society

Rick was born and raised in the Greensboro, N.C. area where he graduated from Southest Guilford High School in 1981. After high school Rick attended Appalachian State University and received a BSBA in Information Systems from there in 1985. For the next 20 years Rick pursued a career in business systems analysis for such companies as Sara Lee and VF Corporation. For much of this time Rick was a part time dealer in Civil War artifacts and developed this website in 1996. In August of 2005 Rick decided to pursue his dream of becoming a full time dealer in Civil War Antiques. Currently Rick resides in Kernersville, N.C.

About Rick Burton's Civil War Antiques

Here's what we're all about:

Rick Burton and Warren Vestal started 'Carolina Collectors' in the mid 1990's. Warren and Rick became friends from mutual acquaintances in the relic hunting world and both became interested in attending shows to buy, sell and trade Civil War Collectibles and relics. After a few years went by we decided to set up a web site to offer the items we have for sale to the on-line community of collectors.

In August of 2005 Rick Burton made the decision to leave a 20 year career in business systems analysis and become a full time dealer in Civil War Antiques of all kinds. Rick and Warren are still great friends and occaisionally they attend shows together. Rick is now a sole proprietor of Rick Burton's Civil War Antiques and he alone creates and maintains this website.

We're here to answer your questions and address your concerns you have for any of the items that we sell. We pride ourselves in carrying fine quality and AUTHENTIC Civil War items at REASONABLE prices. We not only make the claim but we back it up by standing behind what we sell.

We are always looking to buy reasonably priced AUTHENTIC Civil War items. One piece or a collection, let us know what you've got. We like to look too!

We do carry a limited selection of Revolutionary War and Indian Wars militaria. These items are listed completely separate from the Civil War period items.

Many of the items that we sell are unique in nature. We make every effort to keep the website updated in a timely manner but regret that some items may already be sold and not yet marked as such. For certain stock items the photograph may be that of a specimen representative (in quality and condition) of the one that is actually in stock.

Simply stated, Rick Burton's Civil War Antiques is one of the world’s largest Civil War marketplaces on the web. We provide online trading exchange between the individual customer and Rick Burton's Civil War Antiques.
