Excellent US Model 1850 Foot Officer's Sword in great condition. 38 inch blade is marked "TOMES SON & MELVAIN NEW-YORK". On the reverse "W. CLAUBERG SOLINGEN". Blade is etched throughout 2/3 its length with various military patriotic motifs. Gilded brass hilt. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip. Gilded brass mounted leather scabbard.
Blade has some original factory polish. Gilding on the hilt is approximately 98%. Grip & wire wrap are complete. Scabbard mounts retain 95% of their original gilding. There are several shallow dents near the drag. Leather has some scuffs to finish but is quite strong.
