Confederate Blockade Run 1862 Dated Enfield Rifle Musket Caliber 577. Barrel 39". This gun has some unusual markings including desireable Sinclair Hamilton 3 letter cartouche stamped on barrel breech. Stamped in wood behind trigger guard somewhat blurred; appears to read "H&F" & below that a crown w/ other illegible markings. "H&F" also stamped on rear sight. "H&F" has been identified as Huskisson & Frazier, a Birmingham contractor (pg. 117 of The English Connection by Pritchard & Huey). Barrel has standard Birmingham proofs.

Very good overall. Metal is mostly smooth with a gray / brown patina. Replaced nipple; otherwise original & complete. Stock is dark, sound & solid w/ fairly sharp edges having cosmetic dents, scratches & bruises. Mechanically fine with dark bore having discernable rifling.

PROVENANCE: Collection of Lewis Leigh Jr.
