Confederate Georgia Foot Officers Sword by E.J. Johnston. Although unmarked it has the distinctive polished grip in the same form as other swords made by Johnston. The pommel cap is another distinctive feature of this maker as is the cross hatching in the knuckle bow where it meets the pommel. The ring mounts are also in the same form as other examples of this maker. The sword was bought from a lady that stated it was descended in her family who were originally from Georgia.

29 1/2 inch blade with single unstopped fuller is mostly patina color with some pitting near the tip. 3/4 of the original scabbard is present with upper and middle mounts. Leather is cracked and crazed just as found.
