Serial number 492, Caliber .42/18 ga. This is a fine example of an early transitionail LeMat with most all first model features other than the placement of the loading assembly. All major parts numbered 492. The removable loading rod is numbered 823 but based on patina it appears to have been with this revolver a very long time.

This revolver has an unusual 1/2 octagonal breech which measures 2-1/2" turning into round barrel.

The revolver is pictured in Doug Adams' most recent and the best book on LeMat's entitled "The Confederate LeMat Revolver", published in 2005.

This revolver, from the collection of Fred and Nancy Edmunds, has a letter of authentication and provenance stating this gun descended in an Atlanta family before Edmunds purchased the gun in 1976.

Gun overall has a pleasing gray color with some very old cleaning. Markings are crisp, well struck and easily read. Original checkered stocks are very good with sharp edges and some minor nicks and scratches.
