Fine Confederate Wood Scabbard Cavalry Saber With 36” Unstopped fullered blade. Brown leather grip witch single iron wire wrap. Scabbard is wood with sheet iron mounts witch brass throat, drag and brass rings. Manufacturer of this sword is thought to be either Marshall of Atlanta, Georgia or Kraft, Goldschmidt & Kraft of Columbia, South Carolina. It is known that Hammond Marshall indeed made this style scabbard. Regardless of maker, this is a fine example of the classic Confederate wood scabbard cavalry saber & a better example would be hard to obtain.

 

Outstanding condition blade is gray/bright witch areas of scattered staining. Blade retains original protective washer. Leather grip is intact with areas of scuffing and wear. Hilt retains untouched attic type heavy patina. Scabbard body is very good to fine retaining a thin varnish coating. Scabbard mounts retain much original black paint attached each by 4 pins, drag only retains one pin.
