Georgia Confederate Cloverleaf Pike. Cloverleaf pikes like this unmarked example are believed to have been manufactured in the Macon, Georgia area. Several marked examples exist from various mAnufacturers in and around Macon including Stevens, McElroy & Griswold. Cloverleaf pikes were often utilized as a lance but could be used to cut the bridles of opposing cavalry. They also could be utilized as guidon or flag poles. This example measures 80 1/2" overall w/ a 10 1/2" head including the ferrule. Iron straps extend 15 1/2" down from the ferrule. The haft has been cut 34" down from the point as often seen. It has been reattached using sheet copper & nails. Untouched as found conditio, iron has an ancient dark patina as does the copper sheet repair. Wood haft has original finish & patina intact. 1 Lower cloverleaf has 3/16" of the tip missing.
