High Grade Ornate Jeweled Civil War Officer's Sword from the shops of Tiffany with retailer's mark of Fitch & Waldo, NY.

31 inch blade with 17 inch panels etched by Tiffany. Blade is made by Collins & dated 1862. 

Etching has 2 full standing soldiers, large panoply of arms and 'US'. 

Hilt is decorated with 3-dimensional oak acorns. Guard slightly folds on opposite side with foliate relief design. Pommel & integral backstrap foliate decorated with applied spread wing eagle at top. Pommel cap is adorned with a 1/2" oval deep amethyst. Solid silver grip simulates texture of shark skin.

German silver scabbard has gilded mounts, each with 2 applied arabesque jewel decorations, each attached with 3 tiny screws. Scabbard ring bands are decorated en suite to hilt with oak leaves and acorns. Drag blade is gilded relief cast arabesque.

Reverse side of throat has a large engraved US inside of wreath.

Overall fine condition, blade is overall gray/bright with areas of staining and pinprick pitting near the tip. Hilt retains most of its original gilt, as well as scabbard.
