Confederate Lasso Bowie by W.J. McElroy of Macon, Georgia. Well documented in Confederate Bowie Knives. I have included photographs of pages with relevant information.
This particular knife just surfaced in north Georgia. It has seen quite a bit of use being somewhat battered at the butt end of the grip. Judging by the difference in patina on each side of the grip one can see that it lay in the same place for quite some time.
Length overall is 15 1/2 inches with a 10 1/4 inch blade. Blade has an even dark patina with minor pitting consistent with a barn find. It shows evidence of quite a bit of sharpening. Brass grip is cut with Roman numerals 'XII' on underside of cross guard which is consistent with other knives from this maker.
