Rare 1861 High-Hump Richmond Rifle Musket ex. Dr. John Murphy collection and pictured in his book 'Confederate Rifle and Muskets'.

This is a fine example of early Richmond production utilizing mostly captured parts from Harper's Ferry. Lock is dated 1861 and marked 'RICHMOND' (no CS consistent with other early examples). Butt plate is marked 'US' and all three barrel bands marked with a 'U'. The belly of the stock is marked with a 'Z' and superimposed with a 'D'. Both marks indicate visits to the Richmond arsenal repair shops. Period repair to stock between middle and front band is almost certainly the handiwork of the Richmond arsenal.

Two letters dated 1988 and 1989 are present from Stone Mountain Relics.
