Late 18th century American cartridge box circa 1780-1812.  This is a fantastic example of a complete cartridge box rig from the Federal perio. Original buff leather sling is fully intact and has one minor old repair.  The leather box is in excellent condition complete with a wood block in the top for 10 cartridges and the leather opening for flints. On the front of the box is a wonderful oval box plate engraved in script with the initials IL or JL.

Probably the regimental name or the owners initials. These cartridge boxes with slings are very rarely seen complete and even rarer with the cartridge box plate.
