Confederate Brass Hilted Cavalry Saber by Mole. Although produced in England this pattern was never adopted by the British military and is believed to have been produced exclusively for the Confederacy. Brass hilt is marked 'MOLE' where it meets the ricasso. Top of blade is also marked 'MOLE'.

Brass hilt has one branch bent in slightly but no evidence of a break as often seen on this pattern. Gutta percha grips are well worn but complete and show some of the original checkering.

30 inch blade is smooth and retains most of its original polish along with scattered patina staining. Correct original scabbard has remnants of nickel plating which was often done to war trophys. It is dent free with some rust mixed with patina and nickel plating.
