Rare South Carolina Model 1832 Staff Officers Sword by Ames. Features a cast Palmetto tree affixed to clam shell guard and an engraved Palmetto tree on brass scabbard. Etched blade marked 'Ames Mfg Chicopee Mass'. Scabbard has applied scroll with 'NP AMES Cutler Springfield Mass'.

Hilt has generous amounts of its original silver plating. Silver plating is also visible on the scabbard in protected areas adjacent to ring mounts with more plating visible on the lower third. Single fullered 31 inch blade is mostly bright with patina staining. Full 19 inch etched panels visible on both sides with some frost remaining.
