Superb Sheffield Stag Handled Bowie With Rare 'BRAMAH' Quality Mark. This knife dates from 1840-1860. It is extremely well made and has a bold quality mark. Bramah is English slang for something of high quality, or the best of its kind. 

Probably Sheffield made with an extremely long highly desirable clip point blade. Green leather scabbard with German silver mounts.

Overall length: 18 1/8". Blade length: 12". Bowie style blade has a 3 1/2" false edge & is marked "BRAMAH" on the ricasso. German silver stylized crossguard. Stag horn grip w/ a German silver disk pommel attached by 3 pins. German silver mounted, tooled, green leather scabbard.

Blade shows substantial original factory polish. Crossguard, pommel cap & scabbard mounts have a pleasing german silver patina. Horn grip has a small crack with a tiny loss emanating from the crossguard. There is a small abrasion near the top of the grip. Scabbard body shows various scuffs and scrapes but remains amazingly solid. Mounts are undamaged with tight seams.
