Circa 1820-1830 American Eaglehead Rare Ordnance Pattern Guard With Flaming Bombs.
30-inch Horseman style blade with tri-color etch covering the first 18 inches. The blade features a large federal eagle and a 'Warranted' quality mark above a stand of arms. Blade is missing a tiny piece of the tip that is not distracting at all.
Hilt retains generous amounts of heavy gilt and has just a tiny bit of play. Bone grip is sound but has a chip and fissure on the obverse side. Knuckle bow features a chain of three flaming bombs where each bomb is progressively larger. The eagle's head has great detail with hand chased feathers.
