A super fine example of this Confederate classic, complete with scabbard & belt loop. This example is featured on the cover of the above title and on pages 39, 65-68.
The authors classify these knives as short swords, artillery and naval. This one is described as an artillery short sword. The distinction being a spear point vs. clip point. Most collectors have always thought of them as bowie knives. At any rate they are highly sought after in this condition and with iron clad provenance. Certainly the finest we've ever offered.
