Good Looking Confederate 63/64 Type II Fayetteville Rifle. Produced in Fayetteville, NC using equipment captured from the Federal arsenal at Harper's Ferry, Virginia. The type II being designed to be used with a socket bayonet. This rifle is 100% correct and authentic in every regard. It has the original Fayetteville ramrod and retains its original rifling.
This rifle is well marked, having an 1863 dated lock, 1864 dated barrel with VP over eagles head. The usual 'PB' cartouche appears at the tail of the flat opposite the lock. 'CSA' is clearly stamped on the toe of the brass butt plate, and on the lock beneath the eagle. Each barrel band is stamped with a 'U'.
Rifle is in excellent condition with smooth metal surfaces. Barrel finish is a restoration that faithfully imitates the appearance of a factory new Fayetteville. There is a tiny amount of wood repair under the hammer behind the bolster. Otherwise the stock has typical dings and dents found on military rifles from this era, and some initials or company letter carved into the butt.
