Confederate Virginia 1st Cavalry Regiment Sword Former Albaugh Collection.

This very cool sword has a rich Virginia history and was once part of the collection of Confederate collecting pioneer William Albaugh. 

The sword is a second model Virginia Manufactory cavalry saber blade marked on the spine for the 1st Virginia Cavalry. Just prior to the outbreak of the Civil War it was sent to the Ames sword company where it was shortened and fit with a new brass mounted scabbard.

It is a prime example of a pre-Civil War weapon impressed into a new era of warfare.
