According to Flayderman "The Model 1862 Police is considered by many collectors as the ultimate in streamlined design by Colt's factory in the percussion period".

Serial number 23357, .36 caliber, round barrel with New York address on the top, original blue finish turning plum in protected areas.  Cylinder with traces of bluing, frame with "COLT'S/PATENT" marking and about 50% case color, brass trigger guard retains traces of original silver. Walnut grip retains original varnish. All visible serial numbers match, (action needs attention).

Overall a fine example of this desireable model.
