Serial number 2117, .50 caliber rifled barrel with octagonal breech and folding rear sight, the left side marked "L.F.R."; case colored frame marked on the left side "MANUFACTURED BY/AM'N M'CH WRKS/SPRINGFIELD, MASS." and "ADDRESS/POULTNEY & TRIMBLE/BALTIMORE. U.S.A."; walnut stock with "JH" cartouche on the left side; steel butt plate and barrel band.
Barrel lg. 21 1/2, overall lg. 39 1/8 in.
Blue barrel finish has turned mostly plum, frame retains partial case colors some vivid; stock is very good with raised grain and only minor blemishes; trigger guard and action bar retains most of the bluing, butt plate toned to mottled brown; excellent bore with sharp rifling. Action is fine. Hard to find a better one for the money.
