54 caliber. 36 inch barrel with 7 lands & grooves. This is a fine survivor in original flint of the standard configuration 1817 “common rifle”. Lock is marked “US / DERINGER / PHILADA”. Breech is stamped “US / P / GF”. Inspector George Flegal also has his inspectors cartouche on stock opposite lock. All iron mounted including horizontally hinged oval tool box, unique triggerguard with sling swivel on end of rear curl.

Very good overall condition. All original and matching. Crisp markings in metal. Mottled gray iron patina. Mechanics are fine with a crisp rifled bore.
