36 in., .54 caliber round rifled barrel marked "US," "P," and "S," with rear sight behind the lower band, the bore with seven grooves; flat lock plate with convex tail stamped "1826" and "US/H.DERRING[--]/PHILADA" and the inside surface of the plate along with the sear, bridle, and cock marked "S" and the inside surface of the brass pan marked "N"; walnut stock with illegible oval cartouche on the left side behind the side plate and "JJD" below the trigger guard; iron furniture of proper form with iron oval patch box lid marked on the inside surface with assembly number "VII," the trigger guard marked "N" at the back, and the wood screws all marked "77" on the heads, the inside surface of the side plate has "VII" assembly number; with sling swivels and steel rammer with flaring brass sleeved head and threaded end.

About a 2-inch long wood replacement between lock and barrel tang. Iron surfaces have added brown color. Appears to be original flint.
