Rare 'N. CAROLINA' Surcharged Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol by A. Waters, Milbury Mass. in 1838. This one is supposed to have descended in a North Carolina family that had an ancestor who served during the Mexican war.
This pistol remains in original flint. Most were converted to percussion during the Civil War making adding to the rarity of this fine example.
8 1/2 inch barrel retains most of its original bright finish with only a few areas of scattered oxidation. The stock retains good edges, raised grain and is free from major dents or cracks. 1838 dated lock in original flint with maker mark and eagle head proof. Lock functions perfectly. Shows no burnout in the breech area.
This is a fine survivor worthy of the finest North Carolina or antique arms collection.
