This is a rare WW1 Turkish Ottoman Empire cavalry sword, which was made under German contract by Carl Eickhorn of Germany for issue to Turkish cavalry troops during the First World War. It features a steel basket hilt guard with an Islamic star and moon pierced into the guard's face. Checked horn grips with some lamination. 84cm pipe-back blade with Ottoman Turk script number over German maker's details with manufacturer and Islamic year stamps to the ricasso. The blade surface shows light age wear and remains bright. The blade fits well into the rolled steel scabbard.
