56-56 caliber Civil War Spencer Carbine Serial number 54600. Round barrel length 22" with leaf rear sight. Lever action. Band fastened walnut forend. Walnut stock sling swivel, steel carbine buttplate with saddle ring and bar on left side. 7 round tubular magazine inserts thru buttplate.

Metal finish has faded to gray with much of the case color pattern still visible on receiver. Stocks show heavy wear with dents and marks you would expect in a war time used example. Magazine tube is intact. Bore has strong rifling showing a few spots of pitting. PROVENANCE: ex-collection of Paul Eseppi. Prices of nice ones such as this have been climbing steadily.
