Very Excellent Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol by Robert Johnson dated 1841 on the lock. Standard configuration in original flint. 54 caliber smoothbore 8 1/2 inch round barrel. Length overall 14". This model is last US martial pistol to be issued with the flintlock ignition system. It is considered the best made and most attractive martial flintlock by many collectors. A great number of these were altered to percussion in armories north and south. This is a fine survivor.

Metal parts remain bright with only minor freckling throughout. Stock has sharp corners and two crisp cartouche. Barrel and lock markings are sharp. Functions perfectly. Fine bright bore.
